How to remove other grass from Buffalo lawn?

Hi , I layed  new turf (prestige buffalo ) approximately 3 years ago , it’s been going great , but in the last 6 months or so it’s got a couple of patches of different grass very fine blade and wispy and brown at ground level , how do I get rid of it . Top pic is the good one . Neil

Was the lawn laid over an area that previously had a fine-bladed grass? Or have you done any re-seeding or topdressing with an in-fill product? Sometimes those mixes include fine grasses that can take hold over time. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to selectively remove one type of grass from another, especially when you're dealing with a mix of broad and fine blades—there aren't any selective herbicides that will target just the invading grass without harming your buffalo.

Your best option might be to dig out the affected patches, making sure to remove the roots of the fine grass, and then re-lay with new buffalo turf to match the existing lawn. It’s a bit of extra work, but it will give you the cleanest and most consistent result in the long run.
