How to fix scuffs on the door frame?

Hey

I’ve got this scuff mark here caused by an over the door hook. So every time the door closed with the hook on, it scratched off the surface on the door frame.

The painter said it wasn’t a big issue.

I however would like to have it take care of appropriately.

Challenge is I don’t know how to get started around this issue that is how to go about selecting an appropriate paint color and how to practically do it? I saw the painter use a concealer first and then do the paint but he was mixing colors to match the color.

Can you please help guide me here? I aim to visit Bunnings soon!

It looks like you’re dealing with a scuff on the door frame that’s likely more than just a superficial scratch. The first thing you’ll need to address is any physical damage to the surface. If there’s any gouging or denting, it’s best to fill these areas with a wood filler first. After applying the filler, let it dry completely, and then sand it down so that it’s flush with the surrounding surface. 

Once the area is smooth, you can prime it to ensure the paint adheres properly and the finish is even. For touch-up painting, it’s important to match the colour of the door frame as closely as possible. If you know the exact colour name, that makes things easier, as we can mix the paint for you. However, if you're unsure of the exact colour, don’t worry—bring in a small sample of the colour (about the size of a 10-cent piece) from your door frame, and we can match it up for you. Alternatively, you could visit Bunnings and pick up some white colour cards, which you can take home to help identify the closest match. 

Once you’ve got the right paint, carefully touch up the scuffed area, blending the new paint into the existing finish for a seamless look.
