How to rejuvenate concrete?

Hello all,

Side of house is around 1.5m wide and the ground is concrete. I am looking to convert it into a courtyard. I am going to start with decorating the concrete and then add planner boxes and a bench etc.

I want the concrete to be non slip and tidied up. Also something i can do a one time job instead of having to repaint every few years?

Any recommendations for a paint or epoxy or stain?

- concrete crack filler?
- filler in-between house wall and concrete (weeds currently grow through)

Thank you for your question.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of an epoxy product that can be used outdoors, so I'd suggest using a high-quality concrete paint system like the Dulux Concrete & Paving Range.

Start by giving the concrete a pressure clean to tidy it up before the renovation. Check out How To Use A Pressure Washer for some guidance.

After the concrete has been pressure cleaned, fill cracks with Gripset Betta Concrete Crack Filler. This will give you a nice uniform surface to paint over.

You will then have to test whether the surface is sealed or not before proceeding. You can do this by pouring a small amount of water onto the concrete surface. If the water beads up and stays on the surface, the concrete is sealed. If the water soaks into the concrete quickly, the concrete is not sealed.

If it is not sealed, use Dulux Concrete And Paving Bare Concrete Etch And Clean followed by Dulux Concrete And Paving Bare Concrete Primer. If it is sealed, use Dulux Concrete And Paving Sealed Surface Cleaner followed by Dulux Concrete And Paving Sealed Surface Primer. Once cleaned and primed, you can apply your choice of topcoat from the range, with the Dulux Concrete & Paving Super Grip being a good option when grip is required. After painting, you can use the process outlined in How to fill a joint in a concrete slab to seal the gaps between the wall and the concrete to prevent weeds growing through.
