How to fix 90m downpipe to 120mm connection?

I have a 90mm downpipe which for some reason flows into a 120mm pipe into the ground (this part is under a small deck) and (I assume) stormwater OSD tank. The gap has been sealed when built with some kind of putty (see gray in photo). Something has moved or just age and the putty has cracked around the wider 120mm circumference. Online searching has not revealed any kind of PVC adapter in the size 90 to 120mm. Also it is in an awkward corner. Can anyone suggest any kind of PVC adapter? or should I just replace the putty with something like Aqua knead https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-50g-knead-it-aqua-epoxy-putty_p1230080

If the crack on the seal is not very big you can use the Selleys 50g Knead It Aqua Epoxy Putty to patch the damage on the seal. Although the epoxy putty is extremely versatile, I'm not sure it is ideal to use as a replacement for the seal of the pipe. Another possible option is the use of a rubber boot such as the Deks 100mm EW To PVC Rubber Joiner Adaptor, you'll need to use a Holman 100 x 90mm PVC Storm Socket Reducer in order for it to work.

If neither of these solutions are applicable, I suggest engaging the services of a plumber. They will have knowledge and experience to properly reconnect your PVC and earthenware pipe together.

however, does it make any difference to your thoughts that the lower part is not earthenware? I know it looks like it but I think that is because it is stained from the leak which must have been there for some time. It was a new build in 2011. I have double checked and it is definitely PVC everywhere. Thx

Hi @Coolaholigah,

Thanks for pointing that out. 120mm is not a common PVC pipe size. It's perhaps a 100mm adaptor, designed to accept 100mm pipe. That would be slightly larger than 100mm, but I not 120mm. If this is a 100mm adaptor and 90mm pipe then this Deks Industries 100mm PVC to 80/90 PVC Rubber Jenco Joiner should suit.

Remember, this is considered plumbing work and requires a licensed plumber to complete it.
