How to revive Kalanchoe with wilting leaves?

Hi all, 

I have noticed that my lovely KALANCHOE started to wilt, leaves dry and fall off after Cyclone Alfred hit us. Please refer to the photos.

I have not given the plant any water for 3/4 weeks as it has been quite humid in Brisbane here, rain came and went after the cyclone.

Can anyone advice what goes wrong with my plant?

Thanks for sharing your photos and the background—Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is usually a tough little plant, so when it starts wilting like this, there’s often an environmental stressor at play. Given your timing with Cyclone Alfred and the period of heavy rain and humidity that followed, I’d say it’s likely your plant has suffered from overwatering or poor drainage, even if you haven’t watered it yourself.

These succulents really dislike having “wet feet”, and if water sits around the roots for too long—especially in a humid climate—it can lead to root rot, which often shows up as wilting, leaf drop, and browning leaves. Once the roots are damaged, the plant can’t take up water properly, even if the soil looks dry again on the surface.

I’d suggest carefully removing some soil around the plant to inspect the roots. Healthy roots should be firm and white or light tan. If you notice any mushy, black, or foul-smelling roots, trim those away with clean secateurs and let the plant dry out for a day or two before planting it into fresh, well-draining succulent or cactus mix.
