How to makeover frontyard and backyard on a budget?

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a home and the outdoor spaces require some improvement. My budget is limited, so I'd like to tackle the projects myself. I'm unsure where to begin, however. I envision the backyard as a functional space and the front yard as a small garden. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your front and backyard.

There is nothing like a blank canvas to get you inspired. There are so many options when it comes to adding spice to your front and backyard. If you prefer to have a gathering spot at the back with a few seats, I suggest a firepit along with some raised gardens with seating. But if you area after more of a zen relaxation area, you can't go wrong with a low-level deck with a pergola and soft cushions to sit on. There is always the option of mixing the two together as well.  

I recommend going through a few Bunnings magazines and checking out the Workshop website for ideas and inspiration. Write your ideas down on a notebook to slowly build your idea of what your front and backyard should look like. I'll be putting a few links at the bottom to get you started.
