Which clear coat to use over epoxy?

Hi, I have just today finished using the dymark epoxy kit for my garage floor and I’m very happy with the results!

I now want to use a sealer/clear top coat to prolong the life.

I bought the rustoleum clear coat, but is it the correct product or do I need the rustoleum epoxy shield clear coat?

This question was asked before and I would like to refer you that discussion - What epoxy sealer or top coat after Dy-Mark 8L Slate Epoxy Coat Garage Floor Kit? by @abhishekj26. My teammate has spoken to Dymark before in regards to this about applying the Rustoleum clear coat over the Dymark products. Unfortunately, no testing has been done, so they cannot comment on whether this would work. I'm unaware of any clearcoat designed to go over this kit.

Do you happen to know how long the dymark epoxy should last for?

The Dy-Mark 8L Slate Epoxy Coat Garage Floor Kit is a durable, two-part, solvent-based epoxy floor coating designed to provide a professional finish on bare interior concrete floors. There is no mention of needing a clear coat for its surface. Here is a link to the Dy-Mark technical data sheet, I could not find any mention of a time or how long the epoxy should last for. Let me call our supplier to get more information. We'll get back to you as soon as we can.

The length of time the coating will last really depends on how much wear it receives and the quality of the surface it was applied to. In ideal conditions, you could expect it to last up to ten years, but in areas with heavy traffic or where the coating is damaged, you might see wear appear sooner.

As Eric mentioned, no formal testing has been done, but Dymark has received customer feedback that the Rustoleum clear coat has been used successfully over the top. Just keep in mind that the Dymark coating isn’t specifically designed to have a clear coat applied over it. On its own, it’s made to withstand standard wear and tear.

It’s really up to you whether you’d like to apply an additional clear coat — it could help extend the lifespan of the finish if you choose to.
