How to transition between tiling to carpet?

Hello,

I just got new tiles in my kitchen, but the carpet is existing and I am not planning to change it any time soon. I don't like the finish between the two, there's a little gap and the a sharp metal thing against the tiles. Feels like something that would hurt our toes very often...

I found the image attached (third one) on Pinterest, but the tiler said he can't do that. He basically said he can't do anything about it... 

Any ideas?

There are several trim options available to create a smoother transition from your tiles to carpet. One of the easiest to install is a cover strip, which can help bridge the gap between the two surfaces. However, the metal edging your tiler has used might be limiting the options. The sharp aluminium edging seems to have been chosen possibly because of a large gap between the tiles and carpet, which may not allow for a flush finish with more subtle trims.

At a minimum, you should ask your tiler about installing a transition strip that can cover the gap and protect the edges of both the tiles and carpet. While there may be some timber-look transitions, I'm not aware of any options for that specific finish. It's worth discussing with your tiler what alternatives could be installed to make the area safer and more aesthetically pleasing. If they don't have any options, it might be worth speaking with another tiler or a handyperson.
