How to install a keyless mechanical lock for pedestrian gate?

Hi Bunnings,

Can you help with this?

I currently have a pedestrian door facing the front of the house which has a lock requiring keys.

I would like to change to a mechancial keyless entry by pressing numbers.

Also note that the secruity of the gate/lock is compromised, as a person trying to enter open the gate from the back part of the lock though poking the fingers in between the metal

Please advise

Your lever lock is a very neat professional rebated job. Anything you install may cover the retort and rear of the gate frame but unlikely the latch side.

There is a wide range of mechanical push button solutions like this one from Bunnings. But You will need to also look online for a more suitably sized model. Google "push button digital lockset"

I'm thinking that adding an additional keypad lock would be the simplest solution, leaving the current handle and lock in place. The current lock could be left unlocked, and the additional keypad lock used to secure the door.

To complement the current installation, I recommend enlisting the services of a professional. They will likely need to source a lock that suits the width of your frame and possibly make other modifications to secure it in place.

@MitchellMc makes an excellent point I omitted being gaining professional advice and possible service. The gate appears to be of a high-end quality and it would be ideal in keeping with the same quality of finish with the latch changeover.
