How to hang heavy medicine cabinet?

Hi, I want to hang this heavy medicine cabinet that has a mirrored back on the inside. This means I can't screw through the back to mount on the studs. 

The mounting brackets that came attached don't align with the studs. 

We've considered cutting through the plaster and adding new noggins where we need them, but wondering if there is an easier solution?

If you're aiming for a flush mount directly to the wall, then yes—cutting into the plaster and installing noggins or extra framing within the wall cavity might be the most secure option, especially for a heavier unit.

If you’re open to the cabinet sitting slightly off the wall, another option is to screw a 19mm thick timber board across the wall, fixing it into the existing studs. You can then mount the cabinet onto that board wherever the brackets land. That’ll give you solid fixing points without opening up the wall. The resulting 19mm gap between the cabinet and the wall can be neatly covered with some timber moulding for a finished look.
