What anchors for sail shade?

Hey everyone😊

I am trying to install a sail shade and i ve been struggling to identify the right anchors.

When i bought the house, the previous owner had a sail shade installed but with time, one of the pad eye fell down. 2 pad eyes are installed with old and rusty dynabolt plus, and one of them is about to fall down. So i removed them all to replace with new stainless steel ones dynabolts.

As i am trying to install the new anchors and pad eyes, i discovered that the bricks are hallow and the dynabolt does not really latch properly inside the bricks (pictured) and can wiggle around.

What do you recommend in my situation?

Hollow bricks can be a bit tricky, but luckily, there is a solution.

For mounting to hollow bricks, you can use a combination of Ramset Multifit Sieves, Chemset UltraFix Plus and ChemSet Anchor Studs.

Great advice from @JacobZ — just to add, sail shades can be subjected to significant wind loads, especially during storms or strong gusts. These forces can place a lot of strain on your anchor points, especially if the structure behind them (like hollow bricks) isn't very solid.

It might be worth getting a professional to assess whether additional reinforcement or alternative mounting locations (like posts set in concrete) are needed to ensure long-term safety and stability. Better safe than sorry when it comes to wind-loaded structures!
