How to repair cracked rendering and repaint render?

Hello all,

I recently bought a new place with render work done over the bricks. It's currently showing horizontal cracks in different areas, and I was hoping to get some advice on fixing it up before deciding whether it is probably more worth asking a professional to fix it.

Would appreciate any advice!

I’d recommend getting a professional involved at the outset to assess the extent of the cracking and provide an idea of the work and costs involved. For horizontal cracks like these, the usual approach is to chase out and cut along the cracks using an angle grinder or similar tool to expose fresh material. This allows the crack to be properly filled and textured so it blends in with the surrounding render.

Because cracking can be quite extensive and prone to worsening if not done correctly, it’s important to address all cracks thoroughly rather than just patching the surface. Having a professional assess the job will help ensure it’s done properly and reduce the chance of the cracks returning.
