How to attach vermin mesh to fibro?

We have vermin getting into the garage (fibro walls) roof through a gap between fibro and roof. I bought vermin mesh and clouts with a plan of using the clouts to hold mesh against top section if roof abd have mesh fill the void up to the roof. Clouts go into fibro and then fall out.

How can I secure vermin mess to fibro, please? Thanks in advance.

Would it be possible for you to post a photo of your fibro wall and the spot where the vermin are finding their way in? This will give our members a better idea of what the spot looks like. You might need to use a different fixing method to hold the mesh in place.

Just a quick reminder that cement sheeting (fibro) used in older dwellings commonly contained asbestos. If this is an older building and you haven't had the sheeting assessed then it's best to presume it is asbestos until otherwise tested.

There's a risk of asbestos exposure from homes built or renovated before 1990. Before starting any work, determine if asbestos is present by having your home assessed and taking necessary precautions to protect yourself and others. Access resources from the Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency for guidance on safe practices. Prioritise safety by educating yourself and seeking professional assistance when needed.

Thanks Eric, sorry for the delay in replying. I had problems getting back onto the group and had to reset my login etc. This isn’t a great pic but the area is difficult to access (at least, for humans). We bought the house a year ago and are discovering where the previous owners cut corners when making improvements. You can see (what I assume is) insulation material that is stuffed into the roof area. It is a converted garage of a 1940s house (so, yes, asbestos) that is now a studio space. In the pic, you can see the fibro wall, the wooden roof beam, and the insulation that gets dragged out by whatever critters are getting in and out of the roof. Any advice is massively appreciated. Thank you for the additional details.

Considering there is some potential that there is asbestos, you should avoid attaching anything to the fibre cement sheets.

Would screwing some timber, like this 140 x 19mm Merbau, to the underside of the rafters be an option?

If the pathway is blocked, I don't imagine the critters would continue to take this path.

With the safety thing in mind shove rolled chicken wire in there with minimal disturbance.

hi JacobZ, thanks for the idea. I had a look and I don’t think the angle of the beams will allow that, I think my best option maybe @AlanM52’s idea of chicken wire. Thank you both for sharing your wisdom. SB
