How to fix leaking drain pipe?

  Hi, I'd like to ask if anyone could guide me on how I can fix this pipe leak that's been going on since I moved in half a year ago. I believe it's been leaking for a while before that and the previous owner just wrapped it with some thick leak seal adhesive tape, which didn't work because it still leaked through so I removed it. I'm guessing that the pipe cracked where elbow joint is. If that is the case, how do I fix it. If it's not the case, please guide me on what the underlying problem is and how to fix it. Thanks.

From the photos and your description, it looks like the leak is likely coming from the joint area, especially given the visible algae buildup and water staining on the ground directly below. If that's the case, the most reliable fix would be to cut out and replace the entire section around that joint. You’d need to cut the incoming pipe where it enters the 45-degree fitting, then cut the vertical section of pipe just after the elbow, just above where it enters the outlet into the ground. 

Once removed, you can replace those parts with new fittings — likely 90mm or 100mm pipe, depending on what you have — along with a new elbow and angled connector (either 45 or 35 degrees, whichever matches your setup). These pieces should be assembled using PVC primer and solvent cement to ensure a watertight seal. There’s unfortunately no way to repair that joint in place if it’s cracked internally, and it’s best to replace the entire compromised section. 

Please note that, as this is part of a rainwater or stormwater drainage system, repairs of this nature may be considered plumbing work and may require a licensed plumber, depending on local regulations. If you're unsure or if access is tricky, it may be worth getting a plumber’s help to ensure it’s done properly.
