How to clean mould from wooden furniture?

Hi,

We recently got some wooden furniture delivered from Townsville down to Melbourne. It was in storage in Townsville during the recent rains/floods, and as a result got a little mould and stuff on it.

I sprayed the furniture with a mix of 50/50 vinegar and water and let it sit for a few hours. Then gave it a good scrub with soapy water.

Should that be enough to clean the furniture before we bring it into the house?

Perhaps you can recruit some of your family members to lift the table out with you and turn it upside down. Invite them over for an early dinner so that you'll have someone to help you lift it back inside.

Thats a good point, I did remember reading that. The hard part is its a kitchen table, which is currently in my garage so going to be very annoying to get it out into my backyard haha

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your wooden furniture.

I can only suggest inspecting the furniture as thoroughly as possible to make sure that there was no mould left on any of its parts. Using the vinegar is a good start, but I suggest leaving the furniture out in the sun both standing up and upside down to make sure that it is totally dry. When it has been thoroughly sun baked, you can now take it inside your house, but I would still be vigilant of smells and stains that might appear on the furniture unexpectedly.
