How to connect new sink to existing pipe?

Hello Bunnings team,

I hope you’re well.

I have a quick question regarding the installation of a sink pipe. After replacing my sink, I noticed that the existing pipe no longer fits properly. I’m considering using the following adjustable pipe:

The top end is female and the bottom end is male. Would this be a suitable solution?

If there’s a better way to connect the sink to the pipe below, could you kindly advise me on what products I should buy and how I should proceed?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your sink pipe.

Just a friendly reminder that any plumbing work must be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.

To give you a general idea of what needs to be done, the "P" trap that is currently connected to the waste pipe must be brought closer so that its top connection is in line with the sinks plug and waste. This could possibly require you to cut the waste pipe shorter and a new access hole drilled into the shelf. It would then be possible to use the Caroma 50mm Adjustable 60 - 225mm Cap And Lining to link the trap and plug and waste together. Keep in mind that the "cap and lining" will need to be trimmed down in order for it to fit in between the two parts mentioned. It's always prudent to test fit everything to make the parts are all lined up.
