Yes, you can use the Zenith 100mm Matte Black Gate Radius Hinge - 2 Pack on a metal post. Please keep in mind that this is a medium duty gate hinge and will not be able to hold a heavy gate. For heavy gates, I suggest Austyle 100 x 100 x 2.5mm Black Heavy-Duty Hinge which is capable of holding a 40kg gate when using two hinges together.
