What preparation of tiled flooring for vinyl planks?

I have a toilet that is currently tiled with ceramic tiles. We would like to leave the tiles in but lay a 2.5m thick vinyl planks.

I have been told that I will need to grind the tiles to create a clean rough surface, then paint on a primer , then self leveling compound.

Then another primer, adhesive and finally the vinyl.

I am just struggling to find the right primers, leveling compunds and adhesive. I realise some primers will be better for a tile surface and sometimes products go together.

Can you please recommend some products to perform these steps. The room is only 1m x2m, so fairly small.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your tiled floor.

The steps you've outlined are what you need to do in order to get a good base, if you are applying some cement levelling compound on tiles. I suggest using Bondall 1L BondCrete Cement Additive to prime the surface of the tile. As for the levelling cement, I recommend Dunlop 20kg Ardit Floor Leveller. In regards to the vinyl planks, if you purchased them from the store, can you please tell us the brand and model of the vinyl plank. We can give the supplier a call to find out what other primer needs to be applied when being installed on a cement surface.

However, if the vinyl planks are not from the store, I suggest giving the manufacturer a call to find out what primer is best to use when being installed on a cement surface. My best advice is to make sure to give the levelling cement enough time to properly cure before installing anything on top of it. If the vinyl or primer is installed too early the trapped moisture inside the cement will ruin the primer and the adhesive of the vinyl plank
