How to build an internal wall?

the existing wall between my bathroom and laundry had rotted with water leaking from the shower. i have removed all of the rotted wood, plasterboard and board holding the tiles, now i need to build a new frame that i can re clad the outside of the wall, ( not bathroom side

As @AlanM52 has mentioned, internal walls will use H2 pine in a variety of sizes depending on your needs. The wall will not technically be load-bearing as it won't support the roof, but when walls are tiled, it is usually best to use stronger materials such as 90x45 and have your studs spaced at 450mm centres.

The top and bottom plates should be attached to the ceiling frame and floor, respectively. The top plate can be attached to the ceiling frame with framing nails or screws and the bottom plate to the concrete using masonry anchors. Either DynaBolts or Ankascrews are good options.

As Alan has also mentioned, the bottom plate should not be in direct contact with the concrete. Attaching plascourse to the underside of the bottom plate will prevent direct contact between the two.

Once the frame is installed and in place, check out How To Plasterboard a Stud Wall for guidance on cladding the outside of the frame.

If the inside of the wall needs to be waterproofed, it would be best to engage a licensed waterproofer early on so they can advise you on any additional considerations you should take in the framing stage.

In Australia, internal stud walls are typically framed with 90mm x 35mm or 90mm x 45mm timber, with stud spacing generally 600mm. Noggins (lateral support) are often placed between studs every 1350mm. Top and bottom plates are typically 90x45mm, and can be doubled for load-bearing walls or when supporting floor members. 90mm x 35mm will be fine.

Ask here about fasteners to secure bottom plate to concrete such as dynabolts.

The bottom plate needs to be sealed with something like this:

Simply knowing how and building a replacement wall is a relatively easy project. And the link @JacobZ provided How To Plasterboard a Stud Wall is a great start.

However before you begin, please consider other potential aspects such as the following:

The exact position of the wall taking in account cladding thickness on both sides.
Standard framing dimensions to suit the application
What type of cladding on either side.
Plumbing and electrical requirements.
Ensuring everything is plumb
