How to restore a worn Merbau deck?

Hi all,

I'm looking for advice on how best to restore this merbau deck?

The nails haven't popped and stucturally the deck is solid so I'm just looking to bring the Merbau back to life? Do you think best to sand back?

Advice on ideal steps and products to bring back to near new would be appreciated.

This is a very popular topic and there have been a number of discussions about it. Generally speaking, the steps you've mention such as sanding is one of the major steps you need to take on your road to rejuvenating your deck. Driving raised nails or screws back down will save you a lot of grief and sandpaper as it will not get caught on the raised heads of the nails or screws. Cleaning is also very important as it removes the oil and grease on the surface and also washes away any sanding dust that might have been left behind.

If you still prefer the Merbau colour, I suggest looking at the Cabot's 4L Merbau Aquadeck Exterior Decking Oil or similar.
