Do I need to paint inside my laundry wardrobe?

I'm in the middle of painting the laundry on our new build. The wardrobe in the laundry has fitted shelves which make it very difficult to paint the inside wall and trim above the wardrobe door frame. That part will never be seen, so I'm not worried about how it looks, but I am concerned about whether the surface needs to be painted to protect it. Do I need to paint above the inside door frame, or am I okay to leave it bare?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your laundry wardrobe. 

Technically your laundry area is considered a high moisture area and bare timber and heavy moisture are not really good friends. By having a single coat of paint on its surface it will automatically add a layer of defence and will prevent the timber fibres from absorbing odours, fumes and moisture in the laundry. Any uncoated surface becomes an area where moisture can enter.

My best advice is to use a mini roller for easy painting and to cover all exposed surfaces with paint including the inside of your wardrobe.
