How to fix shower spindle too short?

This isn’t my photo but I ordered the similar setup as this and will encounter this issue!

How does the Kinetic 15mm PVC spindle bonnet extender fix this? Where does it screw on ?

My recess in the way is deep and would like to know how the PVC or the 28mm ceramic disc spindle extension works and where does it go!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @tim22455. It's brilliant to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about extending a spindle.

In your case, you’ll most likely need to extend the entire spindle, not just the bonnet thread. The Kinetic 15mm PVC spindle bonnet extender is designed to extend the thread for the bonnet, but it doesn’t move the actual spindle shaft outward. If you use that, you might find that while the bonnet can reach, the handle still won’t be able to grab onto the end of the spindle, which is the real issue in your setup.

Instead, what you actually need is the Kinetic 28mm ceramic disc spindle extension. This product physically brings the spindle mechanism itself further out from the wall, which then allows you to screw on the bonnet and still have enough spindle shaft exposed to attach your handle properly. Hopefully, the 28mm extension gives you the reach you need to accommodate your deeper recess.

How and where does the extender fit?

The part screws onto the breach pipe inside the wall first then the spindle gets screwed onto that? Like image below?

If you have a diagram or an image showing relevant information visually it would help heaps !!

I don’t have any diagrams or images to share at the moment @tim22455, but I can definitely explain how it fits. The spindle extender screws onto the end of the spindle, and then the whole assembly — spindle plus extender — gets screwed into the breech inside the wall. Technically, you could try screwing the extender into the breech first, but because the pipe is recessed so far back, you’ll likely have trouble getting it positioned and tightened properly on its own. That’s why it’s usually easier to attach the extender to the spindle first and then install the whole unit into the wall as one piece.
