How to add stormwater outlet with emitter?

Hello, we live in an area with no stormwater, the downpipes run onto the grass. After a recent pest visit we were advised to move the stormwater downpipes away from the foundation of the house.

It was suggested we dig a trench away from the house and run the the stormwater in the trech and install a water emitter.....like the one attached.....is this the only option or could you suggest another idea please.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your storm water outlet.

In this particular situation, I suggest engaging the services of a licensed plumber and speaking to them about building a soaking pit along with a swale to completely re-direct any water that may be flowing back to the foundation of the house. It is rather an involved process, but if built properly it should protect your house from any major flooding. One other method to delay the flow of water towards your storm water is to divert it into large water tanks such as a National Poly 5000L Round Water Tank. Investing in two or three of these tanks should greatly reduce the amount of rainwater that will flow out of the storm drain.

as @EricL mentioned I would be inclined to get a licensed plumber with experience in dealing with this issue locally. The last thing you want is to have all that roof water impacting other areas you don't want it to.

I idea I spoke about was from a plumber which works fine at other locations, I was just asking to see if bunnings sell emitters....... thanks for your comments.

I'm sorry but the store does not currently stock drain emitters. The closest I have is the Reln 200mm Green Vortex Uni-Pit With Atrium Grate but it is open to the surface and does not have a spring return cover.

I remember my grandmothers place having the same set up, and there was no real consideration about water returning to the foundations after exiting the downpipe and curved pipe base.

I like @EricL's suggestion of taking the water away and using a berm to stop water retuning, Maybe you could have an installed pipe under the lawn that feeds toward the lowest poing of your yard and have a Stormwater Pit where the water then flows out on the lawn, this is just transfering the problem from the foundations to elsewhere but if you work in a berm, garden bed it could work nicely. Note the pit will probarly retain water and then you wll have mosquitos turn up on stagnant water.

I havnts seen those little capped outlets but imagine its doing the same as a pit but with a roof to stop debris over the outlet.
