How to tile and paint over laminate kitchen furniture?

Hi everyone! 

I recently bought my first home and I’m planning to freshen up the kitchen on a budget. I asked ChatGPT to create a vision mock-up of my renovation ideas, and I’d love some advice from this community. 
I’m planning to repaint the laminate kitchen cabinets, update the cabinet handles and tile the bar area for a more modern look. 
I want to repaint the cabinets because the ones over the stove are discoloured and it doesn’t look nice. 

Since the cabinets are laminated, I’d love to hear any tips or recommendations for working with laminate furniture without having to replace it. Has anyone here painted over or tiled over laminate cabinets before? I’m particularly interested in your prep process, product recommendations, and how well it’s held up over time.

I also recommend having a look at this guide - How to Paint Laminate Kitchen Cabinetry. It will tell you the steps you need to take when painting your laminated kitchen. As for tiling the bottom of the island, I suggest attaching James Hardie 1800 x 1200 x 4.5mm 2.16m² HardieFlex™ Cladding as a base for the tiles.

The most commonly used product for painting laminated kitchen doors and panels are the paint systems from the Dulux Renovation Range. This includes the primer, tile paint and benchtop paint systems.
