How to repair wall with exposed exy?

Hi All, 

Wanting some info on how to best fix these cracks. It was from a heavy door banging and cracking the exy. I have now a working soft close on the door which closes gently and after removing loose material i am wondering how I can fill this and get it ready for

paint. Once all the loose material is removed it will be down to bare exy. Is it just joint compound with a final layer of topping compound? 

Also on the external corner there is some damage and you can see the exy what is the best kind of filler for this and what kind of tools should i use for both projects?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about fixing the cracks on your wall.

I suggest using Parfix 1kg Ready To Use Multipurpose Filler in combination with a 100mm Sharp Edge Paint Scraper. Your goal is to put on a coat of filler that is close to the same height as the wall. Once the filler has cured, I recommend sanding it down with a Paint Partner Cork Sanding Block - 2 Pack using a 240grit sandpaper. Wipe the wall down cleanly and remove all the sanding dust on the surface before you prime and paint the surface.

I propose looking at the Dulux 1Step Prep Primer, Sealer & Undercoat 500mL and the Dulux 500ml Vivid White Low Sheen Wash&Wear Interior Paint as top coat tinted to your preferred colour.
