How do I re-align my PVC windows?

I’ve just moved into a house with top hanging PVC windows that seem to have come slightly mis-aligned. On most of the windows the bottom of the windows seals flush, thanks to the handles, but towards the top I can see the window starts to come away very slightly from the seal of the frame. What’s the best way to solve this? Do the hinges need tightening somewhere or is it something else?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your top hanging window set.

It's possible that the post or bracket holding the window needs adjustment to bring it back into alignment. Would it be possible for you to take a photo of the sliding or roller mechanism at the top? Once our members see the roller assembly, we should be able to assess it and provide you with recommendations. If you can also, please post a photo of the entire window to give us a better idea of its current alignment?

Generally speaking, if your window does have have a top roller mechanism, it's likely that the adjustment will be made along that area.

Thanks a lot for your response!

Attached are a couple of pictures of the window that hopefully helps. Where the handles are at the bottom the window pulls flush to the seals on the frame but towards the top a gap forms that I can’t work out how to bring closed.

Any help much appreciated!

Hello @harrisja

Thank you very much for sharing those photos of your window. It's possible that the top hinge needs a bit of lubrication as it is suppose to pivot back into place when the bottom section of the window is pulled back in. I recommend using WD-40 275g Multi-Use Smart Straw - 275g and spraying it liberally both on the exposed and hidden side. Once it has been sprayed push and close the window so that the lubrication spreads into the hinges.

If no changes occur, I propose engaging the services of an aluminium window specialist to inspect the hinges of your window as they are not the adjustable type that I previously suggested.
