Low lying deck over concrete, can I use both pedestals and Angle brackets?

Hi,

As i'm nearing time to build by deck, I've come accross a small issue, using pedastals, the joists for the picture frame are unable to get close enough to the building. Can I use the Carinya 100x100x50x4.5mm zinc plated reinforcing Angle Bracket for the one joist closest to the house?

Yes, you can use angle brackets for this joist; however, wherever you are using angle brackets, you still need to support the timber from underneath. This can be done with packers.

By sitting the joist on the packers, the packers will support the weight of the joist, while the angle brackets will connect the timber to the ground and prevent any possible rolling.

The sizing of the bracket you've mentioned would be fine, but I would suggest using a galvanised bracket as opposed to a zinc-plated one. This will offer better rust protection in the long run. These Carinya 100 x 100 x 40 x 6mm Galvanised Reinforcing Angle Brackets will work.
