How to install pavers for small patio area?

I have a small area in my front yard that I am not sure what to do with. It’s too small to fit a trampoline or monkey bars for the kids and I have settled into transforming it into a patio area with pavers or tiles to maybe put furniture on. Any suggestions on how to approach this? I am on a tight budget.

PS any other thoughts on what to do with this space very welcome. Thanks!

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about putting pavers in your patio.

I suggest looking at these three guides:

Generally speaking, you'll need to dig out that small section to prepare and level the base. Once the base has been prepared, the sand base is then placed over it and levelled. You can then begin laying your pavers. I propose putting some outdoor furniture along with a Marquee 3m Charcoal Cantilever Umbrella.

Pavers would work and keep the section of yard maintence free tho my first thought when I saw it was a fountain, with a small solar pump for circulating the water.

Around the base of the pond area I was thinking of a thick layer of white pebbles. With maybe some stepping stones to lead to the pond itself. Some bushy styled shrubs that can be shaped via pruning after a year or so.

If you stay with the straight paving option you could still put the birdbath on it 🙂

- Pavers can be sourced fro free sometimes, have a search on your social media pages (The big blue "F") in your local area and you may see someone wanting to get rid of them, tho you have to move fast as they are popular items.

- You can use gravel or sand under the pavers, I have used 8mm graveel I had left over from a stormwater project.

- Think pattern of pavers more then straight side by side, it will make the area look more appealing to the eyes.

- Maybe a shrub in the front left corner to break up the pavers and also give some shade from the sun reflecting.
