How to build a gate from house to the fence?

Hey Guys,

I want to build a security gate on the side access of the house to the fence. It’s about 9m wide. I’m thinking of building fence on both sides and hang a gate in the middle so not to have a long spanning gate. I want to ask if I can bolt the post to brick wall of the house.

Also, any other ideas would be appreciated.

Assuming the brick is in good condition and the adjacent post is concreted in, then yes, you should be fine to bolt a post to your brick wall. You'll want to make sure the post is bolted with suitably long fixings at no more than 600mm spacing along the full height of the post.

With a span of 9 metres, you will definitely need to build a fence. You can grab a RapidFence 1800 x 1870mm Grey Large Steel Adjustable Gate Frame Kit for your gate, which would leave around 7.2 metres that would need to be filled in by a fence.
