How to fix wall with paper removed from plasterboard?

I had a name made out of wood stuck the wall with gorilla double sided tape and i struggled getting off nicely but that never ended well I’ve tried to scrape it to get a smooth edge and it stay small the patch seem to be getting bigger there must be about 100 layers of paint on there it’s thick pieces coming off am I doing it right or am I going to have to build a whole new house.

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

You are seeing paint being removed, but you are also seeing the paper face of the plasterboard sheeting coming with it.

I would stop scraping and instead use a sanding sponge to smooth out any sharp edges, then skim coat it with Less Mess Topping Compound.

Give it a good mix and then apply a thin coat over the exposed paper of the plasterboard using a Builders Edge 100mm Plastic Joint Knife.

Allow the topping compound to dry and give it a sand with your sanding sponge so that it is perfectly smooth.

Once sanded, brush the wall down with a soft brush to remove any powder that remains on the wall.

You'll then want to prime and paint the repaired patch to finish off the repair and blend it in with the rest of the wall.
