How to weatherproof a carport?

Hey legends! I am chasing some product advice. I have a carport that we are using as storage because the garage has been converted to a living space. The carport leaks where it’s joining the roof. I was going to get some sealant or silicone and just whack it on there but it seems as tho the gaps may be too large. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
also a long shot but the water floods under the carport door, it’s not the end of the world, but if there’s a simple fix for it I’m all ears. Thanks brains trust. You guys are awesome.

Hi @philbertfoster,

Try backing off the roofing screws to see if the roof edge lifts up enough to get some flashing in there.

With regard to the carport door.

Wondering if the door panel profile could be matched to a polycarb roofing profile?

And this glued to the pavers.

Threshold seal often used for water ingress under garage roller doors.

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it's fantastic to have you with us.

If you're looking to weatherproof the roof, then it really has to be done from the top. If you can safely take some photos of what is on top, that would certainly help us come up with a plan.

You can likely use this CAgroup 100mm x 10m Weatherproof Byute Flash Flashing Tape to bridge the gap between the roof sheets and the roof structure beside them.

Like @AlanM52 has mentioned, using a Premier Blue 5.2m Garage Door Floor Seal could certainly help you keep some of the water out. You could glue it to the ground and seal the bottom edge with Black Sikaflex 11FC Purform.

looks lik eyou might have tio have a few steps to fix the issues,

- The section where the corrorgated metal sheet butts up agains the eave,

A - Some flashing installed from the top side I am thinking of. Brutus 150 x 50mm x 3m Jazz Building Moulding Flashing with the short side facing up behind the gutter hopefully.

- For under the carport door.

A - I would go down the path of liftng the pavers and filling the underside with sand/fine gravel and relaying the pavers level. It would make life a lot easier to manage water that way. I would also install a grill drain straight across the width of the two doors, maybe even directly under the doors and offset the locking bolt behind the grill drain.

- Bonus suggestion

A - I would install a grill drain around the outside of the carport with one more row of pavers after it. Just to give a flat survace for any water to flow across and into the grill. Then you will need to also sort where you want that water to drain to.

Carports are really meant fo straight up rain falling, I wouldnt even think of them as weatherpfroof so you might need to go through a couple of iterances of different steps to get it as weather proof as possible. Looking at the sides of the shed, Maybe some flashing (same type as the roof) along the underside of the walls, short side up on the inside of the shed. Preferable ending over that grill drain.

The roof will need to have some form of custom flashing that overlays the house roof over the carport. Or reverse if there carport roof falls back to the house guttering.

The carport wall will need to be extended with flashing. so it overhangs the slab floor into a new channel drain.
