Need ideas for laundry in garage

I am wanting to put some garage carpet in and tidy up this area.

my thoughts are to shift the fridge elsewhere & get a bench and put the washer and dryer under the bench and put new tub/tapware in & maybe new cupboards above . The width is 2100.

Would you be best to leave the tub where it’s connected up now or shift it to the right hand side & get a bench made up to go to the tub ? It would look better if had something made up and tub went into bench ?

any ideas appreciated.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your laundry revamp.

I suggest having a quick look at this guide - How to plan a laundry renovation by @Adam_W. I also recommend having a look at the Top 10 most popular laundry projects. In regards to your question, it all depends on your budget and the materials you wish to use for your revamp. Moving the laundry tub to the left or right will give you the classic look of tub, washer and dryer line up. The laundry tub of course will need to be replaced with a cabinet which will allow you to have a straight benchtop going from end to end.

But seeing as you might be left with a 250-300mm space at the end, it's possible to build a narrow tall open cupboard for more storage. The cabinets at the top will be Kaboodle standard and will fit the space that's been provided. A nicely tiled splashback will finish the look. If you were to format the floor with Floor Select 7mm 1.76m² Smoke Pinnacle SPC Hybrid Waterproof Flooring, even just the first two square meters of the laundry area will give you a fantastic look and feel.

I like your thinking for the area 🙂 I would actually go with dryer, sink, washing machine to save on shifting any services. Ive done a similar thing with my laundry retrofit with as much recyled stuff as I could. I reused old kitchen cabinets and trimmed them down to fit my area.

Laundry retrofit is the project.

Some things to consider in your design/build.

The depth and width of your sink.

What type of taps you will use and how they will fit in.

The water feed for your washing machine.

The power for both washing machine and dryer.

The height from the floor to the bench and allow for an extra 40-50mm as one of the questions we always run up against in here is benches being too low for a new whitegood.

Replace the cupboard doors only on your above cabinet.

Drying rack for the right hand side of those wall cabinets.

Lastly, lighting for the area 🙂

Bit of a list but mostly they have come about from reading peoples issues in here 🙂

Hi @finnyg

If you ca relocate the fridge then I think moving the trough to the left and bringing the dryer down in-between would be ideal. This will allow you to put a bench over the washer and dryer and then install overhead cupboards. for more storage. But only over the W&D. Leave the the left side open and install a clothes hanging rail which will allow you to hang a dry delicates up. Thats essentially what my setup looks like.
