How to connect washing machine?

Hi All,

ignore the state of it, I plan to give it a clean I swear. I’m just after a quick fix and seeing if Bunnings has something that could help.

I have an old laundry tap I need to connect a washing machine to temporarily. What can I put there to allow for a simple (no plumber just yet) fix without changing too much. If there is a way to have dual washing machine and hand washing options for the laundry sink.. That’d be handy.

I just need to wash a load of clothes!

I'm not entirely sure what I am looking at. Is there an actual tap that you can turn somewhere on this?

Can I get another photo from another angle so I can understand things a bit better?

I can see that there is some thread on it here.

What diameter is that thread?

Sorry Jacob, it’s one of those old school taps in the laundry’s. The spout was just popped out.

I'm just looking for a way to make this outlet for the tap work for a washing machine fitting, and possible keep the handwashing component - if possible.

Hi @kikirock,

If it is about 20mm, you may be able to just attach a standard inlet hose to this thread, as they are designed for 19mm outlets.

If not, can you feel a thread on the inside of the tap spout?

If there is a thread inside the spout, you may be able to use a Brasshards 20mm Brass Threaded Hexagon Nipple to add a thread to the end of the spout that you can then attach your inlet hose to.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's going to be a way to retain the handwashing component while a hose is connected. For this, you would need to have a plumber install a new tap.
