How to build concrete sleeper retaining wall on a slope?

I am in the process of building retaining wall with concrete sleepers however as there is slope on ground so bit confused with how to lay the sleepers as in picture

Of course tapering the sleeper won’t be possible so should I dig the trench in the yard from upper side and lay second sleeper underneath?

Second question, as I have installed all the posts except the two (show in picture) the length of this side on 4.7m and now I am stumped how to align these to lay 2.4 x 2 sleepers 🤨

Third, I have dry pour concrete to install the posts, is there a way to test the strength? They are not moving at all but want to make sure they can bear the load once the dip is filled with soil.

Hi @Mo2,

Your best option is to dig a trench to the lowest level that is exposed on the lower post and then set your sleepers in that trench. This ensures that there is no gap on the lower side of the span through which soil can spill.

With the 4.7m span, you are going to have to cut one of the sleepers to fit. This can be done with this Cordless Demolition Saw , which can be hired through your local store's hire shop. You'll just have to call ahead to arrange, as they are hired in conjunction with our partners Coates Hire and are not kept in our stores.

For your third question, there is not really a way to test concrete once it is in the ground that is not destructive in nature. If you are concerned about the strength, I would not dry pour the concrete. I would mix it in a wheelbarrow and then pour it into the holes. That way, you can ensure all the concrete is adequately mixed before it is poured into the hole.
