How to fix crumbling grout along skirting?

• What's the best method for removing the crumbled grout?
• What's the best product for filling the gaps? If caulk is recommended, is there a caulk that is not tacky and prone to accumulating dust?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about fixing your grout.

I propose using a Multi tool with a Diablo 70mm Starlock Carbide Grit Multi-Tool Blade for Grout and Mortar to remove the old grout. Please note that parts of the skirting could get damaged while using this tool, it will be necessary to do a bit of patching and painting once you have removed all the grout. Once the grout has been removed, I suggest cleaning the area with a vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth to remove all the grinding dust. 

I propose using Selleys 450g Dulux Timeless Grey No More Gaps Interior Colours Gap Filler to cover the gap between the tile and the skirting board. It is unavoidable that the surface of the gap filler will get dusty, but it is water resistant and can be cleaned with a damp mop once fully cured. The gap filler is flexible and is crack resistant as well.

Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when grinding the old grout off.
