What linen cupboard shelf material?

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the standard type of timber is that builders use to make linen cupboard shelves? I don't think it's melamine shelving but possibly some kind of timber with a white laminate over it. 

Just trying to cut apart my existing linen cupboard shelves to make space to store the broom, mops, stick vac etc and want to match the end panel with the existing shelves.

There are a number of panels available at the store and the materials vary from particle board to MDF. For example, the CUSTOMpine 1800 x 445 x 16mm Carcass Shelving E1L Half Drilled White Standard Particleboard is made for shelving and its material is compressed as it needs to carry weight. If you compare it to the CUSTOMpine 16 x 2400 x 1200mm White Matt Carcass Particleboard MR which is used to make cabinet carcasses is not so dense. 

Then there are the branded shelves such as Kaboodle, Flexi storage and Bedford which are made of MDF and either one side or all sides are sealed with a plastic trim. These shelves are on display by the way, just visit your local store and have a look at the kitchen display then proceed to the wardrobe section. Once you see the shelves available you can then decide which one is closest to the one you are after.
