How to fix a bitumen roof leak?

Hi I’ve got a leak in my roof and I had a bloke come out and take a look.

he said he couldn’t help me because the in the past they have used bitumen to seal and patch it all and that silicone wouldn’t adhere to it.

Its a tiny little dribble of a leak so I’m going to try and fix myself, what product can I use that will adhere to bitumen and what can I use to patch the leak?

Never had anything to do with fibre cement roofing but I do know the bitumen thing was only a temporary fix.

The whole area needs to be thoroughly cleaned and prepped for a suitable sealant and the team guys can advise you about that.

I would lay down planks, plywood or similar but be careful something or you might slip. The fall looks ok so you should be ok with that..

I would be very cautious with any work on that roof as there is a possibility that it is asbestos roofing.

Before considering any repairs, I would suggest you contact an asbestos testing agency to confirm whether or not that is asbestos roofing.

If you can confirm that this is not asbestos, you could use CAgroup 100mm x 10m Weatherproof Byute Flash Flashing Tape to seal up any gaps.

If it is asbestos, I would not suggest you do any reparatory works as they would require you to walk on it which can cause it to break. If this is the case, I would suggest contacting an asbestos removal company for their assistance and then replace the roof sheets.
