How to weatherproof gap between carport roof?

Hi team. Just trying to weatherproof this gap (22cm) between car port roof and main house. The carport roof is higher than main house roof. It’s at the front door so when it rains the entry way is wet. I have posted some photos and asking for some advise on best way to go about it. Would pref not to have to re roof.

I propose installing the Roof Extenda MKII Bracket With Black Weather Seal Package on both sides and creating a small timber frame to hold the Suntuf 2.4m Clear Corrugated Polycarbonate Roofing. I suggest tilting the frame towards the lower section so that the fall is in line with the higher roof. Due to the complexity and safety consideration of the proposed installation, I suggest engaging the services of a builder. I recommend getting a quote on the installation of the bracket and the creation of the mini roofing frame.

Thats an interesting question, I think there are a couple fo things to consider with weather proofing the slot.

Your photos show your bottom rung of tiles both sides to be close to the gutter, it dosnt give a lot of distance for teh water to fall into the gutter so I would see if the tiles can be pushed back up to give more fall space.

For supporting the space in between the two roofs, I would extend the truss from the door patio side out so it stops half way between the roofs. Then you make a T shapped timber bracket standing up on the end of it. With those multiple T's you can install the suntuff sheeting that @EricL has suggested. I would make sure you have a gap of 80mm between the roof and the plastic to allow leaves ect to be able to pass. If you cant picture it, let me know and I will try and draw it up tomorrow.

Hi Eric, thank you for your reply. Very interesting idea that I had not heard about before. I would prefer to do the work myself (average diy’er). Would the brackets be fixed to the ends of the roof trusses? I am not sure they would extend out around the gutter. Or are they fixed under the tiles? Thanks again for your assistance.

Hello @Markar

The bracket is actually installed just before the end of the roof truss and the roof tiles will need to be cut to allow the bracket to extend upwards. If you've not done anything like it before, I would advise engaging the services of a handy person or builder to install the Roof Extenda bracket as it needs to be installed professionally and the roof tiles need to be cut with precision.
