How to fix cracked and sinking driveway?

Hi team,

Cracked and sinking concrete driveway. Car traffic is good. If I leave it for longer, its gonna deteriorate more. Removing and redoing the existing concrete slab is an expensive job.
Any cost-effective and stronger solution to make the joint and slope stronger for long time. Sinking part has gone around an inch deep from the good part of concrete. Previously there was some white compound used to join but that has crumbled.

Appreciate your take on it pls.

It looks like the slab has settled into the soil, which may have been caused by natural ground movement over time or possibly water running beneath the slab and softening the soil. If water is present in the area, this will need to be investigated and addressed to prevent further movement. However, if the sinking has occurred gradually over many years, it's likely due to natural settling.

There are three possible options to consider. One option is to remove the existing slab and pour a new one. Another is to hire a concrete driveway specialist to resurface and level the current slab. The third option is to engage a concrete slab lifting specialist, who can raise and re-level the slab without removing it.

Each solution depends on the extent of the sinking, your budget, and the long-term results you're after. A professional assessment on-site will help determine the best course of action.

Was wondering, residential driveways typically use concrete with a strength of 25 MPa to 32 MPa. If we apply and give proper slope with Earl's 4kg Concremate Expanding Cement

This will give pressure of 64MPa after 7 days of curing. Would it fix the issue? Thx.

Unfortunately, no, it would not fix the issue.

It does not expand in the same way that something like an expanding foam filler does. It only expands by around 1/8 volume, which is really only enough to account for the shrinkage that occurs when it dries.

If you wanted to raise the driveway with an expanding product, you would be best to speak to a slab lifting specialist. They will use a specialised high strength expanding foam to lift the slab and fill the void beneath.
