A functional refresh with a whole lot of charm
Our laundry zone like many in Kiwi homes lives in the garage, a space that’s often overlooked and far from inspiring. This project was the perfect example, we had no storage, lots of clutter, and zero visual appeal. But with a little clever planning and a few simple updates, this tired corner was transformed into the perfect laundry zone that’s both practical and pretty.
We used the Practa kitchen flat-pack bundle from Bunnings and swapped the bench top that came with it to a timber one instead, added a splashback using MDF V-Groove board painted in Dulux Knave which now gives the space a fresh, cohesive look — all without major construction or a big budget.
We now have a calm, clean and beautifully organised laundry with plenty of storage that makes everyday chores feel just a little bit nicer.
Steps
Step 1
The before: This is what I was dealing with, I lived with this mess for 10 years.
Step 2
I had mocked up a 3D render of the space in my modelling software so we could visualise what we wanted within the space and the pieces that came and we could use in the flatpack.
Step 3
So happy with how it came out especially as we were on a very tight budget and had to work around the existing power points and plumbing.
