How to fix low-level deck edge board?

Hi, I have this low level decking installed on my alfresco using composite decking. But, when installed a small portion of the edge piece is protruding out. When asked the tradies they say they cannot cut the composite board in angle. Is that so? Plz suggest how to deal with this. Thanks

Thanks for sharing your question about your low-level deck. I can understand why the tradie was a bit hesitant to cut it. There is not much to cut off and if they should make a mistake, it will be difficult to replace with a similar piece. If you can locate a similar piece of composite decking the tradies might be able to link it to your existing piece and create a better-looking end profile. My only other suggestion is to cover it up with angled aluminium edging.

You definitely can cut composite material/decking on an angle. My guess is they didn't for ease of asthetics as the deck runs out on the right side compare to finishing inset of the brick wall on the left from what I can tell.

You couldn't simply leave as is and I can pretty much guarantee it will be come less noticeable given a little time. Otherwise you could glue a piece of this on cut to size and stained a similar colour.

To "hide" the cut angle they would have had to start 3 or 4 boards back in (or against the wall)

If you cut the last board the eye would pick up the angle more so, if you spread it over several boards it isnt so noticeable.

Maybe have a talk about redoing the last two boards with the installer? Or just the last one and take the look as is?

I would actually go for removing the last board and cutting it to make it look half straight, so between the pillar and the wall is straight, then have the lip to help with the look, You dont have a lot of space on the last board so thats why I think the "lip" will look easier on the eye then having it sit flush with a really narrow angled strip on the deck.
