My wife has wanted a bed head for a while now and after a trip to the tip, I found a bunch of long wooden beams full of nails that I ended up taking home. I used the grinder to get rid of the nail and voila… Free wood! That was my motivation for getting this project going!
Steps
Step 1
Mark out the size and shape with tape and start attaching wooden frame on the studs.

Step 2
Start building the frame - the challenge was making the holes to act as bedside tables. Finding this wood at the tip was awesome and saved a good chunk of money.

Step 3

Getting the holes framed was a challenge - lots of measuring and re measuring especially to get both sides to be exactly the same.
Step 4

We wrote messages and drew pictures to any future renovators after we are long gone.
Step 5
I covered the whole thing with gyprock, a step I probably didn’t need to do but I’ve never done this before. Luckily gyprock sheets aren’t that expensive but still added more work than needed.

Step 6

Added shiplap from Bunnings and made sure the fit was good - again, measuring about 5 times to cut once
Step 7

Painting is “fun” with a 3 year old wanting to be involved
Step 8
After painting, I didn’t like the edging, wasn’t sure how to make it pop and look good so I used some curved edging wood trim which worked well! I used clear silicone to glue it into place, if it oozed out it wouldn’t be visible and it could be easily cut off.

Step 9
Done! The project took about 10 hours. (3 days) I’m a Total amateur but Pinterest, YouTube and Bunnings staff at Victoria Point (QLD) helped me a lot! All up with paint and mistakes the project came to just over $1000. If I hadn’t made mistakes and got the gyprock which I didn’t need i could’ve got it under $800.
