Hi team,
I have a very small kitchen (room for one person only!) and wanting to somewhat maximise the storage space available.
I currently have a full size dishwasher, which is old and performs poorly, needing replacement anyway, as it was damaged by the previous tenant. I am looking to replace this with a single Dishdrawer or some other type of compact dishwasher (not necessarily the F & P, as there are other brands which make compacts in a similar size).
As there is currently a full sized dishwasher in the space and a single Dishdrawer / compact dishwasher takes up much less space, I will need to build a shelf of sorts, or a box inside the cabinet for the single Dishdrawer to sit on.
Dinensions of the cabinet internally (ie usable space inside) are:
-840mm from the actual floor to the ceiling of the cabinet (it’s an open cabinet without a cabinet base or kick, but I’d plan to install a kick to make it the same as the adjacent cabinet).
-600mm side to side
-575mm front to back
dishdrawer is
410mm (height)
599mm (width)
573mm (depth)
again, other compact models in other brands are similar sizes (omega, Kleenmaid and there was another one that I forget the brand name of, I’m just stating the Dishdrawer dimensions as an example).
What would be the best way to build said shelf or box inside the cabinet?
Would a box (or a small cabinet) within the existing cabinet be a better open than a shelf? I could then build a drawer into the box/cabinet to increase available storage. Obviously needs to be a moisture resistant material and something that can support the weight of the Dishdrawer (approx 30kg).
for reference, this entire kitchen is less than 5sqm. It is a tiny, but I am far too lazy to not have a dishwasher so I am really trying to make this work and make it all fit.
