How to replace 12V LED tube lights for alfresco area?

I have 12V LED tube lights installed in my alfresco area (as shown in the attached screenshot), but they’re no longer working, so I’m looking to replace them.

Does Bunnings stock similar 12V LED tube lights as a complete unit, or
Do I need to buy LED strips separately and fit them inside the existing tube ?

Any advice or product recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What brand are these LED strips, where did you get the originals from?

How long are they?

I'm not entirely sure that Bunnings does a fitting like this, however I have been known to be wrong.

I’m unsure where these were originally purchased, as I recently moved into this property and they were already installed. Unfortunately, there’s no brand name printed on the lights either.

I would do the LED strip lighting thing.

Something like this:

You can then hopefully connect (no pun intended) with CSParnell for more info about the Grid Connect system - if needed.

Grid Connect (https://grid-connect.com.au/) is also compatible with Alexa which is what I use.

Alexa... Turn on alfresco lights.

That makes it harder, but also easier, meaning that you can install whatever you like to replace it, provided it works on 12 volts and

also depending upon how much light you require.

What sort of metric area are you looking to illuminate?

There are all sorts of ELV (Extra low voltage) fittings or ropelights that could be installed in the same area.

The area is about 50 m², and it has 4 light holders. So, I need 4 lights and prefer bright lighting. Would appreciate if you can suggest me a product accordingly ?

The below is a screenshot how the light holder looks like, the image probably is not super clear but it kind of will give you an idea I guess

Hi @Sharath2507,

Do you have any photos you can share of the light fittings and the space where they are installed?

We would need to confirm that whatever lights you select are compatible with the fittings.

If there are available power plugs, you might be better off replacing the lights with some plug in batten lights like these Arlec 60cm 20W DIY Dual-Power and Tri-Colour Tri-Proof LED Batten Light.

From your first post.

Did the 4 lights randomly stop working or did they all stop working at the same time?

Are all the lights controlled by one light switch?

Come back with that and we can do further troubleshooting.

Tip: You can use a 9V battery with two clip leads to check the lights (Observe polarity).

Thanks for the details. It turned out that the positive and negative connections for the lights were incorrectly fixed. I simply interchanged the tubes, and now they’re all working fine. Two lights are controlled by a single switch, so there are two switches for the four lights. I had to place both lights correctly in order for them to work.

I wasn’t aware of this, so really appreciate the advice. ❤️
