How to hide messy cables?

Hello lovely community! 😊

We recently upgraded our modem setup and I’m now left with some visible cables I’d love to tidy up. I’ve attached a photo showing what it currently looks like, along with the look I’m aiming for.

I’ve seen a few Bunnings options to help conceal the cable running down to the modem, but I’m also hoping to find a safe and neat way to cover the actual wall outlet where the cables are plugged in — ideally something that creates a seamless, streamlined look. Thanks very much

Hello @Narla

Thanks for sharing your question about hiding your data cables. I propose looking at the Deta Standard Mounting Block combined with the DETA Blank Wall Cover Plate and running the cables in the DETA 25 x 16mm x 4m Trunking. Please note that this is just cosmetic covers and will not impact your cables position or operation. Keep in mind that the mounting block will need to be modified so that the cables can run down the bottom and into the trunking.

@EricL has described perfectly a tidy way of covering the network outelts plus down the wall. I would also use some double sided tape Scotch Mount 13mm x 1.9m Double-Sided Mounting Tape to stick the duct to the wall.

There is only one slight issue with what you've suggested Eric and that's the actual RJ-45 (data) connectors in the top socket.

Wether the existing ones can be removed from the plate in the picture, I don't know, some plates like that have the connectors built into the plate itself and aren't removable, I could be wrong, it is very hard to tell from the original photo.

If however they are removable, that would make this a very simple job to proceed as you've suggested, as they can merely be enclosed behind the surface mounting block and blank plate.

@Narla, would there be any chance of a better, close-up picture of that 3-way data connection plate and if possible a picture of the back of that plate with it removed from the wall?

A lot hinges on this and don't worry there are no dangerous voltages in there.
