How to fix leaking sink tap?

Hi guys

My kitchen tab has been slowly drop leaking from the opening/close lever. I removed it and found the internal mechanisms showed in the image attached here, my plan was to remove it and put some plumber's tape in the bronze part to prevent leakage. However, I couldn't find a way to disassemble the mechanism showed on the image.

How can I remove these parts from the tap?

You reckon some plumber's tape will do the trick for a very small drop leak?

Before you begin your repair, please make sure that your mains water has been turned off to avoid accidental flooding.

Thanks for sharing your question about your leaking sink tap. Putting plumber's tape on the brass locking nut will not be an effective repair method. In this particular situation the ceramic cartridge has been damaged and the only way to repair it is to replace it. I've placed a sample image below to give you a general idea of how ceramic taps are assembled. This assembly method applies to your tap as well. The part marked as No. 2 is the cover shield for the brass nut, I suggest turning it anti-clockwise to remove it. You'll then need a shifter to remove the locking brass nut marked as No. 3 and from there you just need to pull out the cartridge No. 4.
 

I suggest bringing the cartridge to the store so that you can compare it to the replacement piece. They should be the same height and width plus they should have the same fittings at the bottom. You'll see what I mean once you compare the cartridges. My best advice is not to overtighten the locking nut to prevent damaging the ceramic cartridge.
