How to fix the toilet cistern leaking into bowl?

Hi 

The toilet cistern started leaking suddenly after flushing last night. I have looked a number of blogs and videos and it seems like washer may need replacement. However, when I inspected the outlet flush valve I was unable to locate the existing washer or part where I need to put the new washer. 

Can someone advise if the whole valve needs to be replaced or just the washer only? Here is the photo of the valve. It has blue and yellow buttons at top. 

I have highlighted two parts in below image. What washer would fit in and which groove it would sit on? Around the groove marked blue arrow or black arrow?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your toilet cistern.

Thank you so much for sharing those photos with us. On your photo with the blue and black arrows, it is the blue one that needs to be removed. Simply hold onto the edge of the rubber washer and pullout and up to remove it from the flushing mechanism. There are no other parts to be removed or dismantled. The installation of the new rubber washer is done in reverse, hook the washer to the bottom of the flushing mechanism and pull down.

Make sure to centre the washer properly and that it is not curling in any manner. I propose bringing the old washer with you to the store and compare it to the new washer you'll be purchasing to make sure they are the same size and thickness.
