What can we do to stop birds from nesting and defecating on downpipes?

Thank you for your question.
How much room is there on the top side of the downpipe?
If you have a ladder and there is room, you could get up there and put some Jack 250 x 110 x 70mm Stainless Steel Pest Control Bird Spikes or Jack 600mm Anti Bird Pest Control Spikes on top of the downpipe.
Just remember to set the ladder on even, stable ground and have someone foot the ladder for you.
You could also spray some Multicrop 400g Scat Bird And Animal Repellent on top of the downpipe. This would be effective, but it would need to be reapplied about every 10 weeks.
