How to address cranker problem with pine tree?

HI there,

I have some cranker problem with my pencil pine as they are "bleeding".  I was advised to buy this copper based fungicide but I have problem understanding the mixing instruction and wonder if I should apply directly to the bleeding site or to the soil.

I would really appreciate some advice please.

The Yates 200ml Liquid Copper Fungicide is a copper based concentrated liquid fungicide. It must be diluted; the fungicide should be mixed at a rate of 5mL per 1 litre of water for most vegetables and fruit trees. Since your pencil pine has canker it is classified as a bacterium and therefore you only need a mix of 5ml to 1 litre. You can use a manual sprayer or invest in a Silvan 5L ECO Hand Sprayer or the 2ltr variety such as the Aqua Systems 2L Garden Pressure Sprayer. Please member to wash the sprayer thoroughly with water after using the chemicals to prevent it from deteriorating the seals.

My best advice is to spray over and under the leaves for full coverage. There is no need to spray the soil.

Please remember to wear personal protection such as appropriate clothing, gloves, goggles and a paint rated spray mask.
