Should I get a roofer to inspect roof cavity?

I've got 2 minor cracks in the ceiling (bathroom & loungeroom) but the worst is this hallway crack (photo attached).

I would like a permanent fix if possible. I noticed a very similar Bunnings post and I liked Eric's suggestion of installing an expansion joint first.

Should I get a roofer to come out first and do this, or is something that the plasterer can do?

Please advise if you have any other suggestions.

My house inspector at the time mentioned that it was caused by extremes of temperature.

The rest of the house looks fine, for a 1980s house.

I propose asking your plasterer if they have experience in installing an expansion joint piece. This will compensate for any future movement in the ceiling. Please note that because your house was built in the 80's I strongly suggest having your ceiling tested for asbestos before you have any work done. If the results are positive, you'll need the services of an asbestos removal specialist. If the results are negative, you can continue with your ceiling repairs.
